Socialized Medicine in the U.S.S.R. (Coming Soon to the U.S.A.!)

This blog entry about Rand's book, We the Living is interesting. Many do not like We the Living because they say it's depressing. Well, it's about communist Russia, of course it's depressing! For me, I loved the book because it's so important. It's what life (or actually, a slow death) was like under an oppressive government. Since the U.S. is rapidly moving towards that type of government, I think it's time to pull out this old, yet so-very-relevant novel, dust it off and give it another look. When you're done, read or reread Atlas Shrugged. If those parallels don't scare you enough, read The Ominous Parallels by Leonard Peikoff. If you are still evading reality after all of that, you will never get it. Your slow, painful death could've been avoided if only you had lived in reality.

I loved We the Living too. It teaches so much.

I think the healthcare system Obama wants to implement is more comparable to what exists in Europe today, though.
